Cambodia 79 medals and still counting, Athletes pride of their Nation

Phnom Penh: Cambodia is leading the medal tally at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) as of May 8, 2023. The host country has won a total of 79 medals, including 32 gold, 25 silver, and 22 bronze.

Cambodia's gold medal haul was led by its athletes in the martial arts, including Kun Bokator, Vovinam, and Chinlone. The country also won gold medals in chess, aquathlon, soft tennis, and esports.

Cambodia's strong performance at the SEA Games is a source of great pride for the nation. The country has come a long way since it first hosted the SEA Games in 1965. At that time, Cambodia was still recovering from the effects of the Khmer Rouge genocide. However, the country has made great strides in recent years, and its athletes are now competing at a high level.

Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines all have 60 medals, followed by Indonesia with 58 medals.

The SEA Games are a biennial multi-sport event that is held among the member states of the Southeast Asian Games Federation. The 2023 SEA Games are being held in Cambodia from May 5 to 16, 2023.

The SEA Games are a major sporting event for the Southeast Asian region. They provide a platform for athletes from all over the region to compete against each other and to showcase their skills. The games also help to promote sportsmanship, friendship, and understanding among the countries of Southeast Asia.
